Acupressure
Massage (Tui-Na)
(hourly massages are currently not available)
The California Acupuncture Center offers full-body acupressure massage
for 1 hour to 1 ½ hours (Hayward office only),
as well as shorter massages before acupuncture treatment. Acupressure massage
is characterized by attention and use of the acupressure points, which are the same as the
acupuncture points. Acupressure massage combines the benefits of
these points, and balancing the meridians, with the muscle release and
relaxation of a massage. Chinese style of acupressure is called Tui-Na.
Clients are seen in their own comfortable
clothing, on a massage table, and are rocked, rubbed, brushed, and stretched
into a stress-free state where muscles can relax and pain is relieved.
Tui-Na treatments include the use of hand techniques to massage the soft
tissue of the body, acupressure techniques to directly affect the flow
of Qi or energy, and manipulation techniques to realign the musculoskeletal
and ligamentous relationships. Treatment can be with as light or
as deep pressure as the client desires, always focusing on relieving pain
and tension in areas of concern, as well as working with the whole body
to achieve balance and harmony.
